Neighborhood leaders have stated that the new initiative is aimed at addressing a deepening mental well being crisis in Bartholomew County and the surrounding location.

The mental well being initiative — which is anticipated to involve the Columbus city and Bartholomew County governments, as effectively as the county’s well being technique, nearby behavioral well being technique and nearby education technique — will largely be modeled following the collaborative work that led to the creation of the Alliance for Substance Abuse Progress, or ASAP, an organization that was launched in 2017 as aspect of the neighborhood-wide work to combat the opioid crisis and substance use, officials stated.
Abedian stated that the push for the mental well being initiative has been driven in substantial aspect by the 2021 Neighborhood Well being Requirements Assessment for CRH’s service location.
The assessment discovered that:
