Minnesota Breweries Take Home Silver and Gold at World Beer Cup, Reinforcing State’s Craft Beer Legacy

At this year’s World Beer Cup, Lupelin Brewing from Big Lake received a silver medal for their Dortmunder beer. The German-style Oktoberfest lager was praised as a near-perfect example of the style, and winning a medal at the competition is considered a highly prestigious achievement in the brewing industry.

With over 9,000 entries in 110 categories, the World Beer Cup is often referred to as the “Olympics of beer.” Among the winners from Minnesota were Bent Paddle of Duluth and Northbound Smokehouse and Brewpub of Minneapolis, who both took home gold medals. Excelsior also received a silver medal for their fruit beer, while BeerClub of Mora and Pryes Brewing of Minneapolis won bronze medals.

These awards showcase the exceptional quality of craft beer produced in Minnesota and highlight the creativity and talent of local brewers. Executive Director of the Minnesota Craft Brewers Guild, Jess Talley, commented on the success of Minnesota breweries at the World Beer Cup, stating that it reinforces the fact that some of the best beer in the world is being made by local brewers in communities across the state. The competition took place earlier this week in Las Vegas and showcased talent from around the globe.
