Local News: Hamilton County Health Department unveils latest health assessment for 2024

The Hamilton County Health Department has recently released the 2024 A Picture of Our Health Community Health Assessment, which provides a comprehensive analysis of the health status of residents in the county. This report is published every 4-5 years and focuses on eight key factors that impact the overall health of the community, including access to healthcare and health coverage, environmental health, chronic diseases, infectious diseases, mental health, injuries, substance abuse, and vulnerable populations.

Moving forward, the Health Department and Regional Health Council will work together to develop strategies aimed at improving the community’s health and well-being. The Epidemiology Department of the Health Department plans to release additional informative materials on topics covered in the assessment. Additionally, a data dashboard will be created and published in the coming years to provide accurate and timely local health information.

Dr. Dawn Ford, Epidemiology Department Manager stresses that this 175-page assessment is crucial in guiding efforts to reduce the impact of these diseases. She hopes that community members will adopt healthier behaviors such as increased exercise, better nutrition, and cessation of smoking to improve overall health outcomes.
