New Science Building Completes Construction at Butte College: A Milestone in Academic Excellence

In a momentous occasion for Butte College, the final beam of its new 72,276-square-foot science building was placed in Butte Valley. A news release from Butte College announced that the campus community gathered at the construction site at 11 a.m. on Wednesday to sign the final beam and celebrate this important milestone in the construction process. Construction of the building began in April 2023, with an expected opening in fall 2025.

The new science building will offer classes in various disciplines, including science, technology, engineering, mathematics (STEM), construction management, nursing, allied health, and general education in the sciences. The project is funded by Measure J, a $190 million bond measure that was approved by voters in November 2016, as well as the state’s Physical Plant and Instructional Support Block Grant. This state-of-the-art facility will provide students with cutting-edge resources and technology to further their education and research in a wide range of fields.

With its modern amenities and advanced technology, the new science building is poised to become a cornerstone of academic excellence at Butte College for years to come. The addition of this facility will significantly enhance the educational experience for students in STEM and healthcare fields while also serving as a hub for collaboration and innovation.
