New Signings Boost Colchester United’s Roster: Ben Goodliffe and John-Kymani Gordon Join the Team

Colchester United has added two new players to its roster, bringing the total number of summer signings to four. In a matter of just thirty minutes, the club signed defender Ben Goodliffe and striker John-Kymani Gordon.

Goodliffe, 25, joins Colchester after spending five seasons with Sutton United. He was part of the team that won promotion to the Football League in 2021, but left the club after their relegation to the National League. Cowley expressed excitement about this signing, praising Goodliffe’s commitment to improvement and love for the game. He believes Goodliffe will make a positive impact on both ends of the field.

Gordon, 21, joins Colchester after leaving Premier League club Crystal Palace. He has signed a two-year deal and is set to join goalkeeper Matt Macey and winger Harry Anderson as recent additions to the squad. Cowley spoke highly of Gordon’s pace, ability to carry the ball, and end product. He sees him as an exciting addition to the team, bringing athleticism and an edge that will benefit Colchester on the pitch. Gordon was on loan at Carlisle when they won promotion from League Two in 2023, showcasing his potential as a talented young player.

The two signings bring Colchester’s total summer signings to four, adding much-needed depth and talent to their roster. With these new additions, Cowley is confident that his team will be better prepared for the challenges ahead in the upcoming season.

“I am thrilled with these signings,” said Cowley. “Both Ben Goodliffe and John-Kymani Gordon are excellent players who will bring valuable experience and skill to our squad.”

“Ben has shown a great love for football and is committed to improving every day,” continued Cowley.”He will make a positive impact on both ends of the field.”

“John is an exciting addition who brings pace and end product,” he said.”He has shown his potential at Crystal Palace and I believe he can be even better here at Colchester.”
