Northern Michigan University and Marquette Junior Hockey have formed a partnership agreement that will bring benefits to the youth hockey program and its players. As part of the agreement, NMU will designate one of its hockey games each season as Youth Hockey Night and provide 20 complimentary tickets for each home game that can be distributed throughout the youth hockey organization.

The partnership also includes advertising opportunities for Marquette Junior Hockey in the Wildcats’ home Berry Events Center and discounts for its players to join the Young Wildcat Club. Fundraising opportunities are also being provided, such as being group game ushers, 50-50 raffle ticket sellers and chuck-a-puck sellers.

“Marquette Junior Hockey is excited about this partnership and grateful for the opportunities it provides,” said Ryan Higbie, president of Marquette Junior Hockey, in a recent news release. “We appreciate the enthusiasm of NMU coaches and athletic director Rick Comley for this partnership and look forward to a successful season.”

Comley, who was once head coach at NMU himself, expressed his excitement about partnering with Marquette Junior Hockey. “We are thrilled to partner with Marquette Junior Hockey and are committed to helping grow the sport and develop young players locally,” he said. “This is a win-win partnership that we believe will make a positive impact on both organizations.”
