NVIDIA Corporation has announced the early launch of the Israel-1 supercomputer, a powerful machine designed for scientific research in the field of artificial intelligence. The computer is currently accessible only to company employees, but once completed, it will be the most powerful supercomputer in Israel and among the top in the world, with a performance of 8 exaflops for AI and 130 petaflops for other scientific work.

NVIDIA CEO Jensen Huang stated that Israel is home to some of the world’s leading AI researchers and developers who are creating cutting-edge tools that will drive future AI developments. The company has partnered with Mellanox to develop switches that are said to improve AI platform performance by 70%.

In May, NVIDIA announced its plans to create the Israel-1 supercomputer in Israel by the end of the year. The computer will feature 2048 NVIDIA H100 80GB GPUs and 2560 BlueField-3 DPU processors and 80 Spectrum-4 Ethernet switches, all developed in Israel by Mellanox. These switches are said to significantly enhance the speed and efficiency of artificial intelligence platforms, making them an essential component of this powerful machine.
