The Baltimore Orioles made a trade with the Milwaukee Brewers on Saturday to acquire reliever Thyago Vieira. In addition to Vieira, the Orioles also received minor league pitcher Aneuris Rodriguez from Milwaukee. The Brewers received minor league right-hander Garrett Stallings in exchange for Vieira and Rodriguez.
The Orioles hope that this trade will strengthen their bullpen and provide them with additional pitching depth moving forward. Thyago Vieira, a 31-year-old right-hander, had a 5.64 ERA in 16 appearances with Milwaukee this season before being designated for assignment on Monday. He has a career record of 2-2 with two saves and a 6.18 ERA in 41 big league appearances, having previously played for Seattle and the Chicago White Sox.
Garrett Stallings, a 26-year-old pitcher, was a fifth-round pick by the Los Angeles Angels in the 2019 amateur draft. He posted a 5.67 ERA in 11 games (including four starts) for Triple-A Norfolk this season. The Orioles believe that his talent and potential make him an excellent addition to their bullpen roster.
