The Ohio State women’s basketball team defeated East Carolina 79-55 in the Baha Mar Pink Flamingo Championship. Jacy Sheldon led the Buckeyes with 20 points, while Taylor Thierry contributed 14 points and eight rebounds. The team’s next game will be against Oklahoma State.

Ohio State got off to a strong start, scoring the first 10 points of the game and maintaining a 21-11 lead at the end of the first quarter. However, East Carolina’s Synia Johnson led a comeback in the second quarter, scoring eight of her 14 points to bring ECU within 38-32 at halftime. Despite this, Ohio State came out strong in the second half, scoring 11 of the first 13 points to take a 49-34 lead and maintained a double-digit advantage for the rest of the game.

Rebeka Mikulasikova contributed 12 points, while Cotie McMahon and Rikki Harris each had 11 for Ohio State. ECU’s Johnson and Amiya Joyner scored 14 and 12 points, respectively. The game also saw several technical fouls, including an ejection for ECU’s Jade Tillman after a hard foul in the third quarter.

Overall, Ohio State’s strong performance secured a convincing victory in the tournament.
