Local Kroger experiences heightened police presence due to mental health crisis

On a Tuesday afternoon, a man in the midst of a mental health crisis caused a significant police response at the Kroger Marketplace in Miamisburg. Multiple witnesses reported seeing numerous police officers at the grocery store as a result of the incident. The Miamisburg police and medics were called to the scene around 3:45 p.m. after receiving reports of a disorderly individual at the Kroger Marketplace located on 255 N Heincke Road.

The suspect, described as a man in his late 20s or early 30s, entered the store, stole a box cutter, and proceeded to lock himself in a bathroom. Despite experiencing a mental health crisis, the individual did not harm himself. According to a Montgomery County dispatch supervisor, the suspect was arrested on charges of trespassing, inducing panic, and theft. Although the store remained open, a section near the pharmacy was blocked off during the incident.
