Power Outages and Property Damage: Windsor, Connecticut Responds to Severe Thunderstorms

On Friday, Windsor, Connecticut was still reeling from the powerful thunderstorms that hit on Wednesday. Residents and businesses were working to recover and get back to normal, with widespread damage caused by a tree crashing through a home on Robin Road. Cleanup efforts were expected to take a significant amount of time as crews worked to clear debris and restore power.

Eversource reported that tens of thousands of people were left without power after the storm, with progress being made in restoring electricity but still a couple thousand customers waiting for their power to be restored. Local businesses were also feeling the impact of the storms, with some having to throw out inventory due to power outages affecting their ability to keep ingredients cool.

Business owners in the area expressed surprise at the severity of the storm and its effects on their operations. Michael Androw from E&D Pizza Company lamented the loss of their inventory ahead of a busy “pizza Friday,” noting that they would have to start from scratch in preparing for the day. Despite the challenges faced by businesses and residents, power crews were working hard to restore electricity as quickly as possible to minimize the storm’s impact on the community.
