Record-Breaking Performances: Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis Sets New World Record in Pole Vault at Xiamen Diamond League Meeting

Sweden’s Armand ‘Mondo’ Duplantis has set a new world record in the pole vault discipline, breaking his own previous record at the Xiamen Diamond League meeting. The 24-year-old athlete, who holds multiple titles such as Olympic, two-time world, and European champion, cleared 6.24 meters on his first attempt at the Egret Stadium. This impressive feat surpassed his previous record by just 1cm which was set in Eugene last year.

Duplantis started the competition with a jump of 5.62m before smoothly clearing heights of 5.82m and 6.00m. This marked his eighth world record in the pole vault event. Despite his outstanding performance, American Sam Hendricks finished in second place with a best jump of 5.82m, followed by China’s Bokai Huang in third with a jump of 5.72m.

Duplantis continues to assert himself as one of the top athletes in the pole vault event with this thrilling start to the outdoor season. His dedication and hard work have paid off and he is sure to continue breaking records and setting new standards for himself and others in the sport.
