LaDonna Lynn Phelps, a devoted Christian and long-time nurse, passed away peacefully in her Newton Falls home on November 16, 2023. She was 64 years old. Born to Leon and Lillian Reynolds Garrett in Elberton, Georgia on January 16, 1959, LaDonna was a graduate of Elbert County High School and went on to study nursing at Athens Technical School. She spent over three decades working as a nurse before retiring from Victoria House in 2021.
LaDonna was known for her love of crocheting, sewing, baking, playing the piano, and painting pictures. Her passion for helping others extended beyond her work as a nurse. On April 25, 1995, she married Walter Phelps and they had two sons together: Wesley Davis and Tyler Phelps. LaDonna also had a daughter named Julie Davis and three grandchildren. In addition to her family, she is survived by her mother Lillian Reynolds Garrett; brother Keith; sisters Saronda Reynolds Smith (and husband John), Sherry Reynolds Smith (and husband Steve), Tammie Reynolds Wilson (and husband Chris); as well as three great-grandchildren.
Calling hours for LaDonna will be held from 5 to 6 p.m., Tuesday November 21st at Bernard P. Borowski Memorial Home in Newton Falls where services will follow at 6 p.m.. The family kindly asks that donations be made to the ALS Association Northern Ohio chapter in honor of their beloved mother/wife/grandmother/great-grandmother who touched so many lives throughout her journey with ALS
