Revolutionizing Mobility: Discovering the Power of Sensors with LUCI at T.K. Martin Center

The T.K. Martin Center for Technology and Disability at Mississippi State University is thrilled to host a hands-on training session on the innovative technology of sensors for power wheelchairs. This event, titled “A Day with LUCI,” will take place on April 26 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the T.K. Martin Center and is aimed at professionals in the field of assistive technology, including occupational and physical therapists, speech language pathologists, teachers, and counselors.

During the training, participants will be introduced to LUCI, a smart sensor power wheelchair system that helps prevent injury and damage during wheelchair use. The session will include classroom instruction, an end-user panel discussion, hands-on training, and lunch. Registration is $150 per person and includes a CEU credit. Participants can register for the event on the T.K. Martin Center website.

The hands-on training portion of the session will allow participants to learn about the programming options and features of the LUCI system while also having the opportunity to practice using it on different styles of wheelchairs. The smart sensors in the LUCI system alert users when they are too close to an obstacle, helping to enhance safety and promote independent mobility.
