Denver Broncos recently signed undrafted free agent tight end Thomas Yassmin after the 2024 NFL draft. Originally from Australia, Yassmin had a background in rugby before transitioning to football during his time at the University of Utah.
During his time at Utah, Yassmin played alongside Denver’s seventh-round draft pick Devaughn Vele and quickly made a name for himself in football. In 2022, he played in all 13 games, starting six times and racking up impressive statistics with 13 catches for 301 yards and six touchdowns. However, his 2023 season was cut short due to a season-ending injury after playing in just five games and recording eight catches for 89 yards and a touchdown.
In Denver, Yassmin will be competing for a spot among a crowded tight end room which includes players like Greg Dulcich, Lucas Krull, Adam Trautman, and Nate Adkins. Head coach Sean Payton’s system values big-bodied tight ends, presenting Yassmin with an opportunity to showcase his skills during training camp in order to secure a spot on the roster.
Yassmin’s participation in the NFL’s International Player Pathway program may also allow him to make the team’s practice squad without being included in the 16-player limit. As a player to watch this summer, Yassmin will have a chance to prove himself and potentially earn a place on the roster. Keep an eye on his progress as the season approaches.
