According to the Institute for the Study of War (ISW), capturing Chasiv Yar could pave the way for further Russian advances towards Ukrainian cities.

In a separate incident, Russian armed forces attacked the Balakleya railway station in the Kharkiv region while Ukrainian military personnel were disembarking a train.
