Round Rock City to Provide Mental Health Support After Juneteenth Incident

In the aftermath of Saturday’s shooting at a Juneteenth event at Old Settler’s Park in Round Rock, the City of Round Rock is offering mental health resources to individuals and families to help them heal. Annie Burwell, the Crisis Response Unit Program Manager, encourages everyone affected by the tragedy to prioritize their mental health and take advantage of these resources in order to support each other and begin the healing process as a community.

The Round Rock Fire Department’s Crisis Response Unit is available during extended hours of 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. from June 16 through June 21. They can be reached by calling 512-218-5501. Team members will answer calls, provide guidance and education, and can set up in-person appointments if needed.

Outside of the CRU’s extended office hours, the U.S. Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration’s Disaster Distress Helpline is available 24/7 to U.S. residents. The helpline offers support in multiple languages and can be reached by calling or texting 1-800-985-5990.
