Season two of Run the World promises to give fans additional style, enjoyable and, of course, lots of drama.

Right after two years, the sophomore season of the STARZ series returns to stick to the 30-a thing trio of Renee (Bresha Webb), Whitney (Amber Stevens West), and Sondi (Corbin Reid) — Andrea Bordeaux, who played Ella, departed the series in February 2022, after its debut season — as they navigate the trials and tribulations of becoming profitable profession females in pursuit of planet domination even though juggling their romantic relationships and their connections to a single a different.

As the 3 strive for individual development and self-discovery, balancing profession, adore, and the ups and downs of life in Harlem, New York, they rely on their sisterhood to propel them onward and upward in a planet in which they have been in no way meant to do so.

The show’s logline promises, “At its core, it is an unapologetically female show about enviable friendship and not only surviving – but thriving collectively.”

And according to the cast, viewers will get all that and additional when they tune into the show. ET’s Rachel Smith visited the set ahead of the series premiere on May well 26, for the duration of which Webb, West and Reid teased all the thrilling issues fans can anticipate in the second season.

“We’re carrying out huge issues, huge style in Harlem, honey! We are taking issues by the reins, we’re becoming selfish and not apologizing for it and, may I add, we appear fabulous carrying out it as properly,” Webb proclaims.

West adds that the cast’s actual-life friendship enhances their fictional bond, pointing out how close they’ve gotten even though functioning on the show. “We just have so a great deal enjoyable collectively. We’re good friends in actual life — like each of them just got married [and] I was at each of their weddings,” she says, adding that the cast frequently plays board games on set collectively.

That bond is produced additional apparent for the duration of the chaotic events of season two. “[The season] was just explosive,” Reid shares. “Like, season 1, you see us beginning to deal with our issues. With season two, it all just sort of explodes and then you have to see us operate by way of it collectively and lean on our beautiful friendship as this enviable pal group. So it really is truly fabulous.”

The new season picks up straight exactly where the earlier installment left off:  Whitney is facing the consequences of confessing to her fiancé (and now ex), Ola (Tosin Morohunfola), that she cheated on him Renee finds herself struggling to uncover her way immediately after quitting her job at Eclipse to strike out on her personal in the promoting planet and dealing with her separation from her husband, Jason (Jay Walker) and Sondi finds her domestic setup with beau Matthew (Stephen Bishop) in flux as Naomi (Tika Sumpter), his ex-wife and mother of his daughter Amari (Ellie Reine), returns household from active duty with the Navy.

“It just produced me so a great deal additional excited to get back to operate and see what the rest of the writers have been going to create up,” Webb says of the new season. “[Renee] leaves her husband, she quits her job [and now] she’s in the dating scene. We do not know exactly where Renee is gonna go [in] the second season, but it really is worth [exploring] and I wanted to do it.”

“Yeah, Sondi is truly sort of moving in a radical new path,” Reid adds. “Her partnership is in a totally various spot from season 1… Her profession [also] moves in an completely new path. She finds her voice becoming amplified and she falls in adore with it and you see her truly lean into that.”

“I feel it really is thrilling for you to visualize exactly where it can go, for the reason that I can see her heading in so quite a few various directions,” Reid notes. “I can see her obtaining her Angela Rye on or, I do not know, we’ll have to wait and see exactly where she goes.”

As for West’s Whitney, issues are pretty tumultuous for her immediately after she upends her life by confessing her a single-evening stand to her fiancé. “We left with a substantial cliffhanger for Whitney [and] what I adore about the show is that it really is so grounded in reality. And we’re not just jumping back into Whitney obtaining married to Ola for the reason that there requires to be some resolving of what went on in between them,” she tells ET.

West adds, “I adore that it really is a show about females in our 30s who, on paper, have checked each box — they have completed college, they are profitable in their careers, they have been in amazing relationships [with] excellent guys — like these are all the issues that individuals feel… they [can] coast by way of the rest of their life. But with Whitney and these females, you see that they get to these moments exactly where they are nonetheless falling and they are nonetheless obtaining to figure out what they want out of life and then go immediately after it. And so Whitney is quite a great deal in a spot of needing to appear inward and figure out why she sabotaged the partnership that she wanted for so long and understand additional about herself and what she’s searching for for the rest of her life.”

Season two also tackles the absence of the original fourth member of the pal group, Ella. Without having providing also a great deal away, Webb shares that Ella’s presence is nonetheless “present” in the second installment.

“Her light and her essence of who she is as a character [is still present],” she says. “It really is so a great deal additional relatable for the reason that good friends come and go, you know, and individuals get married, they get jobs, but you nonetheless have that adore for them. And so that is what her presence is this season. She even saves the day in a single of the episodes. We honor her in that space, so [it’s] relatable.”

Reid says that the show guarantees the fictional good friends keep in touch with their fourth member, noting that “technologies is magical” when it comes to maintaining in touch with loved ones.

With the show’s vibrant stories, iconic setting and drool-worthy style — thanks to costume consultant Patricia Fields and costume designer Tracy L. Cox — it really is no surprise that Run the Globe is usually pointed out in the identical breath as Sex and the City.

Agreeing that style is a substantial portion of their characters, West shares that the actors usually collaborate with Cox when it comes to their on-screen appears.

“We place on issues that make us really feel a particular way for the reason that we want to present a particular way and so the garments in our show are a substantial portion of our characters,” West says. “Tracy is so excellent at his job and he just shows issues to me. We collaborate on exactly where we feel the character is, but I wasn’t like, ‘Go uncover this dress.’ He shows up and has a thing in thoughts and pretty much often I just do what ever he says.”

Sharing that she grew up watching Sex and the City, Webb shares that functioning with Fields was a dream come correct as a person who was inspired by the outfits shown on the former HBO series. “But, you know, there is also shows like Living Single and Girlfriends that paved the way for us to be who we are,” she adds, referencing executive producer Yvette Lee Bowser’s iconic Queen Latifah-led series.

“I feel our show is a modern day-day take of what it is to be, not only a Black lady, but to be a lady living in New York City, living in Harlem, which is quite underplayed in tv,” Reid says. “We’re displaying the glamorous, attractive culture that is in Harlem and displaying 3 ambitious, intelligent females who are living their very best lives in Harlem. It shows a dream come correct.”

Reid shares that they had “pinch-me moments” with fans who show them the influence of the show on their viewers. “It really is also attractive for the reason that we’re living in luxury as 3 Black girls in New York City. You do not get to see that usually on Television any longer. We’re providing genuine representation, which has meant a lot to a lot of individuals and it really is truly good to hear.”

“It really is not just a fantasy on tv, this is actual. There are actual females, go to Harlem [and] you will see them,” West adds as Webb notes, “We are carrying out what is currently becoming completed. We’re celebrating Black females. We have to celebrate our melanin.”

“We wanna be inspirational,” Webb adds of the show’s style and stories. “It really is aspirational. We want you to see it and go get it.”
