Ryan Swanson, a resident of Panama and co-owner of Pinehurst Golf Club, is heading out on a road trip at the end of the month. He’s excited to participate in the PGA Professional Championship taking place in Frisco, Texas from April 28 to May 1. Swanson, who is also the head coach of the St. Bonaventura University golf team, earned his spot in the championship by finishing in a tie for second place in the Western New York PGA Section Championship last year.
As head coach of St. Bonaventura golf program, Swanson has made significant strides in re-energizing the team. Under his leadership, he played a key role in recruiting and developing a talented group of golfers including Christian Chapman, Danny Gianniny and Jack Geise who have set numerous program records. In the 2022-23 season, Jack Angelucci set a school record for rounds of par or better in a season while Erik Stauderman and Angelucci both had impressive showings at the 2023 Atlantic 10 Championship. Moreover, several players received academic honors as well while excelling academically as a team.
Swanson’s passion for golf combined with his dedication to coaching has made him an inspiration both on and off the course. His upcoming participation in the PGA Professional Championship is proof of his skills and commitment to this sport.
