World Central Kitchen reveals the identities of employees who lost their lives in Gaza

A recent tragedy has struck the non-profit organization World Central Kitchen (WCK) as seven of its employees were killed by Israeli airstrikes in Gaza. The employees were on their way back from a mission when the strike occurred, according to a statement from WCK CEO Erin Gore.

Among those killed were Saifeddin Issam Aydan Abutaha, Lalzawami Frankcom, Damian Soból, Jacob Flickinger, John Chapman, James Henderson, and James Kirby. Abutaha, Frankcom, Soból, and Flickinger were part of the WCK relief team, while Chapman, Henderson, and Kirby were part of the WCK security team. The employees were leaving a warehouse in Deir al-Balah in central Gaza when the strike happened.

Israeli Prime Minister expressed regret over the incident, calling it a “tragic event” and an “unintended strike.” WCK founder José Andrés called on the Israeli government to stop the indiscriminate killing and prevent any more innocent lives from being lost. The organization had recently sent food shipments to Gaza, with the employees delivering over 100 tons of food shortly before the incident.

The deaths of the WCK employees have been mourned by their friends and relatives as well as the wider humanitarian community. These brave individuals traveled the world to participate in relief efforts following wars and natural disasters. On March 12th, a ship carrying 200 tons of food departed for Gaza with more food shipments planned.

WCK is a non-profit organization that has been delivering food to civilians in Gaza for years. This recent tragedy has put them in an even more challenging position as they continue their mission to provide aid to those who need it most.

It is important that we come together as a global community to support organizations like WCK in their efforts to help those affected by conflicts and natural disasters. We must demand accountability for any actions that result in innocent lives being lost and work towards finding solutions that prioritize peace and human dignity for all people.
