Multiple individuals arrested in France for plotting two terrorist attacks

In France, several people have been arrested at two different locations on suspicion of planning terrorist attacks. The Interior Minister, Gerald Darmanin, announced this in an interview with BFMTV but did not provide specific details about the number of arrests or the locations where they were made. He stated that the terrorist nature of the alleged projects would need to be confirmed by the Anti-terrorist prosecution service.

When asked about the possibility of one or two attacks being prepared, Darmanin replied that they would be separate projects. He emphasized that the threat of terrorism in France is currently very high, especially with the Paris Olympic Games approaching in three weeks. The terrorist alert level, which is at its highest, will remain in place until after the Paralympic Games end on September 8.

According to the Directorate General for Internal Security (DGSI), France has seen a total of 273 deaths and hundreds more injured as a result of terrorist attacks since 2012. Law enforcement has successfully prevented 81 attacks during this time, with 71 interventions carried out by the DGSI.
