Special solar eclipse event at Kentucky Science Center

The Kentucky Science Center in Louisville is hosting a unique event to celebrate the upcoming solar eclipse on April 8th. This special occasion will feature free activities and admission from 1 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., with guests receiving a limited number of free eclipse glasses.

The Science Center’s 50,000 square feet of exhibits and galleries will be open for visitors to explore during the event. Educational programs about the eclipse, eclipse-viewing safety, gravity, cultural interpretations of eclipses, and constellations will also be available for guests to enjoy. Guests can view the partial eclipse and participate in activities such as creating pinhole cameras and learning about UV rays.

Beyond the solar eclipse-related activities, visitors can also choose to watch a screening of the documentary “Journey to Space 3-D” in the Science Center’s four-story theater. This film takes viewers on an exciting journey through NASA’s Space Shuttle program, the International Space Station, and the Hubble Space Telescope.

Kentucky Science Center CEO Mike Norman expressed his excitement about hosting this unique event focused on this rare phenomenon. He emphasized that it is essential to engage guests in scientific exploration and understanding why this natural occurrence happens. This event is made possible in part by a NASA Kentucky Space Grant.

The Kentucky Science Center is located at 727 W. Main Street and is open seven days a week from 9:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., providing an opportunity for members of the community to come together and experience this fascinating astronomical event in an enjoyable way while learning something new along the way!
