Tonight, the Kansas City Chiefs and San Francisco 49ers will face off in Super Bowl LVIII. But for the first time ever, the game will be broadcast on Nickelodeon, in addition to the traditional CBS Sports telecast.
Nickelodeon has been airing “NFL Slimetime” since 2021, featuring NFL analyst Nate Burleson and child actor Dylan Gilmore. The duo will report live from Allegiant Stadium during the game.
But what sets this year’s Super Bowl apart is the unique combination of animation and graphics that Nickelodeon is bringing to the table. Popular characters from the cartoon SpongeBob SquarePants will join the telecast live, including Sandy Cheeks, voiced by Carolyn Lawrence, who can be seen in promotional photos on the sidelines of a real-life football field.
SpongeBob SquarePants and Patrick Star will call the game alongside Burleson and play-by-play announcer Noah Eagle. Larry the Lobster will also provide live commentary.
If you’re watching the game with kids, this Nickelodeon broadcast might just be their favorite option yet!
