During his speech, Biden mentioned his father, former U.S. Senator and Attorney General Robert F. Kennedy, as one of his political heroes growing up. He also paid tribute to Martin Luther King Jr., emphasizing the importance of looking to their examples in difficult situations. Biden proudly displayed busts of Kennedy and King in the Oval Office, highlighting their continued influence on him even after their deaths.

The Kennedy family’s support for Biden is significant given that Robert F. Kennedy Jr., another member of the family, is also running for president this year but has faced criticism for his anti-vaccine stance and far-right contacts. While he may not have a chance at winning the election in November, it was clear that he would not receive the support of his family during this campaign cycle.

On stage with Biden were other Kennedy siblings who publicly aligned themselves with him in the upcoming election, underscoring their commitment to his campaign despite their cousin’s candidacy within both parties and outside of them.
