Michael Burton, a 6-0, 247-pound fullback who stands at 6 feet tall, is entering his ninth year with the Denver Broncos. Before joining the Broncos, he was a fifth-round pick from Rutgers who played for the Detroit Lions in 2015. After two seasons with the Lions, he was waived and then spent two years with the Chicago Bears. He attended the training camp of the New Orleans Saints in 2019 but did not make it to their 53-man roster. He returned to New Orleans before moving to Kansas City Chiefs where he helped them secure a victory in Super Bowl LVII.
During his career, Michael Burton has primarily been used as a blocker but has also recorded 35 rushes for 71 yards and one touchdown as well as 21 receptions for 131 yards and one score. Last spring, he signed a one-year contract with the Broncos and served as their fullback during training camp, making significant contributions to special teams. This spring, he re-signed on another one-year deal and currently stands as the only true fullback on the team ahead of training camp. However, there have been rumors of plans to convert tight end/fullback Nate Adkins into a full-time fullback role which could change Burton’s status on the team.
