TikTok influencers exchange Ozempic for homemade rice water with lime

TikTok users are raving about a new weight loss trend that involves mixing rice water and lime to make a concoction called Rice-Zempic, which is much cheaper than the popular drug Ozempic. This trend has gained popularity on the platform, with many users claiming to have lost weight quickly by following this simple recipe. However, nutritionists warn that this may not be a healthy approach to weight loss.

One TikToker, Alfredo Valenzuela, tried the Rice-Zempic diet and saw results at first, but ultimately only lost 2.5 kilos after 12 days and decided to stop. Maartje Boot from the Dutch Nutrition Center advises against following TikTok trends like this and recommends sticking to a normal glass of water for hydration.

There is no scientific evidence to support the weight loss claims of the Rice-Zempic diet. Scott Keatley from Keatley Medical Nutrition Therapy explains that drinking this concoction may result in consuming fewer calories and temporary weight loss, but it does not have the same hormonal effects as Ozempic. This trend has no medical basis for weight loss and does not mimic the effects of prescription drugs like Ozempic.

While some users may see short-term results from this diet, it is important to note that long-term success requires sustainable changes in lifestyle and dietary habits. It’s always recommended to consult with a healthcare professional before starting any new diet or exercise program.
