The Truman City Council met briefly on Monday to discuss the progress of the community building project. Deputy Clerk Carol Becker presented a report on the project, highlighting that the city has received a grant of $40,000 and about $5,700 in donations this year. Becker stated that $27,200 of the grant has already been spent, and there are still outstanding bills for recent roof and floor work. Once these bills are paid, the grant money will likely be depleted. Additionally, approximately $5,000 of the total donated money has been used for stainless steel backsplash, and there is almost $2,000 remaining from the donated money.

In other news, Utility Foreman Brent Brown provided updates on the 2024 utility budget. No adjustments have been made recently, although a few items have been rearranged. Brown also mentioned that they have received two quotes for the power plant roof repairs and are waiting on a third quote. Once all quotes are received, the options will be presented to the council for a decision, and it will then be worked into the budget.

The council also approved the fire department and ambulance department elections as well as a resolution to contract with a city official with an amended total.
