Jessie Guadalupe Montes, who runs American Vision Auto in Houston, is under investigation for swindling customers out of over $100,000 through his car restoration business. Court records show that Montes has been accused of theft aggregate and money laundering.
Montes is said to have collected money from multiple customers for work that was never performed or vehicles that he did not own. He allegedly misrepresented his ability to sell and provide classic vehicles, leading to losses totaling approximately $105,000 for the victims involved. Authorities believe there may be additional victims who have not yet come forward.
This is not the first time Montes has been charged with similar crimes. He currently has a pending case in Lake Charles, LA for similar actions, and has a history of theft charges in Fayette, Austin, and Waller Counties.
KPRC 2 reporter Bryce Newberry is covering this story and will have more information at 10 tonight. If you have had any dealings with Montes or American Vision Auto, you are encouraged to reach out to Bryce at Bnewberry@kprc.com.
