The United States has committed an additional four million dollars to provide food support and emergency shelter for about 70,000 people who have been displaced from Nagorno Karabakh. Samantha Power, head of the US Agency for International Development, reiterated Washington’s commitment to standing by the ethnic Armenians of Nagorno-Karabakh. She highlighted that Azerbaijan’s military operation in the region forced more than 100,000 people to flee their homes and seek refuge in neighboring Armenia.

The US government has already allocated 28 million dollars in support to the Armenians of Nagorno Karabakh since 2020. During her recent visit to Armenia, Samantha Power personally heard from displaced individuals about the immense hardships and grief they faced as a result of leaving their homes. She pledged that the US government would continue to do its utmost to assist both the displaced and their gracious hosts in Armenia.
