UVA Health Children’s Receives Top Ranking in Specialties, President Jim Ryan Raises Record-Breaking Funds to Expand Services

UVA Health Children’s, the No. 1 children’s hospital in Virginia for three consecutive years, has been ranked among the top 50 nationally in nine specialties by U.S. News & World Report. This recognition is a testament to the exceptional care provided by the hospital’s team of doctors, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.

University of Virginia President Jim Ryan has been a dedicated supporter of UVA Health Children’s for many years, and his recent successful fundraising efforts have helped to raise over $52,000 for the hospital. This is his most successful effort to date and brings the total amount raised to over $100,000. Today, Ryan will present these funds to UVA Health leaders, who are committed to continuing to expand services for children and families across the region.

The Battle Building houses the UVA Health Children’s Ambulatory Clinics, providing integrated outpatient care to families in the region since 2014. The clinic offers a wide range of services including primary care and specialized care in over 30 different areas within Virginia and beyond. The hospital also includes over 110 beds, a pediatric emergency department, a Level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit, and a Pediatric Intensive Care Unit.

In addition to its impressive medical capabilities, UVA Health Children’s is also committed to expanding its services for children and families through partnerships with other healthcare organizations in the region. For example, it has established a partnership with Sentara Martha Jefferson Hospital to establish the UVA Health Children’s Neurodevelopmental and Behavioral Care clinic in Albemarle County later this year. This new clinic will offer specialized care for children with neurological disorders such as autism spectrum disorder and cerebral palsy.
