Asher Michel, a freestyle skier from Tabernash, won the bronze medal at the FIS Freestyle Junior World Championships held in Italy on April 5. Representing the Winter Park Competition Center team, Michel impressed the judges with his performance in Valmalenco, Italy.
Michel’s impressive run in moguls earned him third place on the podium alongside top athletes like Mateo Jeannesson and Daeyoon Jung. The next day, he also competed in dual moguls and finished fourth in that event. These accomplishments made him one of the top freestyle skiers in the world for 2024.
This was Michel’s second time competing in the junior world championships. In 2023, he won gold in team dual moguls at Vermont’s Stratton Mountain Resort. Throughout the season, Michel had many other accomplishments as well, including winning gold in dual moguls at several NorAm Cup events.
