Science Expeditions is an annual three-day event hosted by the Morgridge Institute at the University of Wisconsin-Madison. On April 6, families from all over Madison gathered to explore the diversity of science at the Discovery Expo. The event was held as part of Science Expeditions and featured over 40 interactive and exciting booths.
The Morgridge Community Engagement Team put together a variety of hands-on activities for attendees to participate in, such as cow eye dissections and learning about shipwrecks on the Great Lakes. Educational presentations were also given from various fields in science, sparking scientific curiosity in both children and adults alike.
One of the highlights of the event was the lively science show featuring UW chemistry professor Bassam Shakhashiri, along with a surprise appearance from Bucky Badger. The show was a thrilling demonstration of scientific principles and left attendees amazed at what they had learned.
Community engagement is a key aspect of the Morgridge Institute’s mission, as it aims to serve society in partnership with the university. This year’s Science Expeditions helped celebrate 175 years of UW-Madison and its accomplishments in education, innovation, and community impact.
