Austria Airlines, or AUA, has posted job openings for full-time flight attendants on their website. According to the advertisement, applicants will undergo two months of training before beginning work with a gross annual salary of 31,080 Euros, which translates to 1,717 Euros net per month. To be eligible for the position, applicants must have a high school diploma or completed vocational training, be fluent in English, possess an EU passport or have unrestricted access to the Austrian labor market, and live close enough to the airport to be able to report within 90 minutes when on call. After five years in the position, flight attendants can expect to earn 2,337 Euros gross per month, while after ten years, this increases to 3,475 Euros gross per month.
The company’s union Vida has outlined salary information for the profession. Flight attendants will earn a flat rate regardless of the number of long- or short-haul flights operated. The collective agreement in effect from March 2020 to December 2022 included a salary reduction of 15 to 20 percent due to economic difficulties caused by Covid-19 pandemic; however later it was reset back at old levels with some employees experiencing real wage losses due to inflation.
