Ava Goldsmith, a senior student at Kennedy High School in Bellmore, NY, has been recognized as one of the 15 students on Long Island who have earned a spot in the prestigious International Science and Engineering Fair. This event will take place from May 11 to 14 in Los Angeles. Goldsmith’s research project focused on breast cancer therapy, with a specific focus on a cancer-promoting network called the “epichaperome.”
With three years of experience in advanced science research under her belt, Goldsmith clinched her position by winning first place in the 2024 Long Island Science and Engineering Fair in the Cell and Microbiology category. Each year, millions of high school students from all over the world participate in Regeneron-affiliated science fairs. However, only around 1,600 students qualify to compete for nearly $5 million in awards, scholarships, and internships.
