BMW is investing 200 million euros to expand production capacity at its components plant in Landshut, Germany. The focus of the expansion will be on producing the central housing for the electric powertrain of the Neue Klasse. This investment includes the addition of two new production lines which will increase the annual capacity for fifth and sixth generation aluminum housings by about 30 percent.
Thomas Thym, head of the BMW Group plant in Landshut, emphasizes the continuous expansion of the site’s expertise in cutting-edge component production and new technology development. This skill set will provide the flexibility needed for future operations.
The sixth generation is planned for Neue Klasse vehicles from 2025. With this expansion, BMW will be able to produce more efficiently and effectively, ensuring that its electric motors continue to meet customer demand and expectations.
