More than 1/3 Complete: Building the Center for Brain Health

The construction of the $100 million Center for Brain Health, a new patient care and clinical trials facility of UT Health San Antonio, is currently at 35% completion. The project is scheduled to be fully finished by September 2025 with an expected opening in December 2025. Located at 4940 Charles Katz Drive, the Center for Brain Health is part of UT Health San Antonio’s $1 billion capital investment plan that also includes the opening of the UT Health San Antonio Multispecialty and Research Hospital in December.

The Center for Brain Health aims to advance research and provide expert care for patients with Alzheimer’s disease, related dementias, movement disorders, ALS and other health concerns. It will also serve as an educational site for medical residents and postgraduate trainees. Designed by Alamo Architects Inc. and TreanorHL, the facility will contain 75 exam rooms, 50 faculty offices, a 12-chair non-oncology infusion center, an outpatient pharmacy and space for leading research and clinical trials. The five-level building spans over 103,500 gross square feet providing easy access for families and patients under one roof. Joeris General Contractors, Ltd. is the builder of this project.

With its state-of-the-art facilities and expert staff, the Center for Brain Health is set to make a significant impact on brain health care in the San Antonio area and beyond. It will contribute to cutting edge research in neurology while providing innovative care for patients with various neurological conditions.
