Marta expressed her feelings about retiring in an interview with CNN Brasil, stating that this year will mark her last with the national team and beyond 2025, there will be no more Marta in the national team. Throughout her career, Marta has received numerous accolades, including winning the FIFA Player of the Year award an unprecedented six times. She also boasts a collection of titles such as the Women’s Champions League, the Copa Libertadores Femenina, and has been awarded the Golden Boot and Golden Ball at the 2007 Women’s World Cup. A notable achievement is her record of scoring at five World Cups, with 17 goals in total, which is the highest across men’s and women’s soccer.
Despite her illustrious career, one area where Marta fell short was winning major global titles with the Brazilian national team.
