This change enables users to control their interactions with other accounts, restricting their ability to contact them, view their posts, and follow them.
Previously, when a user blocked another account, the blocked account could continue to respond to the user’s posts, but the user who initiated the block could not see these responses. However, X has now made changes so that users can see responses from accounts they have blocked.
The Engineering account on X stated that this change was aimed at giving users more control over their experience while maintaining public visibility of posts. The company wants to offer users the opportunity to identify and report any incorrect content that they could not previously see. Elon Musk, owner of X, previously announced that he was not in favor of the blocking feature and removed it except for direct messages. Despite being a requirement of application stores like Google Play and Apple Store, Musk argued that the feature did not make sense. Overall, X’s new account blocking policy change aims to empower users by giving them more control over their interactions with other accounts on the platform.
