UVA Health Celebrates Donate Life Month with Vibrant Pinwheel Garden Display

During Donate Life Month in April, the UVA Health Transplant Center has created a beautiful display of approximately 1,300 colorful pinwheels outside of UVA Health’s West Complex to celebrate the gift of life provided by organ donation and transplantation. The garden will be on display through May 1st, serving as a reminder of the impact of organ donation and transplantation.

As Virginia’s only comprehensive transplant center, the UVA Health Transplant Center has a long history of providing life-saving organ transplants. With over 7,000 organ transplants performed since its establishment over 50 years ago, the center plays a vital role in saving and improving the lives of patients. During this month, the focus is on the importance of living kidney and liver donations to help the thousands of individuals on waiting lists for transplants across the country.

For those interested in learning more about becoming a living kidney or liver donor, UVA Health’s living organ donation page provides valuable information and resources. By becoming a living donor, individuals can make a significant difference in the lives of those in need of organ transplants. The pinwheel garden serves as a symbol of hope and renewal, highlighting the importance of organ donation and transplantation in saving lives.
