Congressman Steve Cohen Secures $1.4 Million Grant for Tri-State Community Health Center to Expand Access to Affordable Healthcare in TN

Congressman Steve Cohen of TN-9 announced today that Tri-State Community Health Center will be receiving a grant of $1,416,200 from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services. In his statement, Congressman Cohen emphasized the critical need that Tri-State Community Health Center fulfills by serving many individuals who do not have access to affordable health insurance due to Tennessee’s failure to expand its Medicaid program, TennCare.

The lack of Medicaid expansion in Tennessee puts a strain on financially burdened hospitals who are left to provide high levels of uncompensated care to uninsured individuals. This also prevents Tennesseans from fully benefiting from a federal program that they already contribute to through their tax dollars.
