CoreCivic Employee Trial: Was Wrongful Termination Based on Allegations of Discrimination?

In Shelby, Montana, a former employee of CoreCivic LLC is set to stand trial over allegations that he was unfairly terminated from his position as a unit manager. The ex-employee, who suffers from anxiety and depression, claims that he was let go in violation of state wrongful discharge and disability discrimination laws.

CoreCivic contends that they fired the worker due to allegations that he retaliated against a Hispanic subordinate who had reported him for mocking her accent. However, there are doubts about whether this was the true reason for his dismissal. It is possible that the company used the incident as a convenient excuse to let him go.

The trial will allow both sides to present their arguments and evidence, giving the jury the opportunity to make a determination based on the facts presented. The outcome of this case will determine whether CoreCivic’s actions were legal or if there was a violation of employment and discrimination laws.
