Exciting Showcase for Young Innovators and STEM Enthusiasts: Demonstrating Their Skills from the School of Tomorrow

This Saturday, May 11, Infobip’s “Alpha Centauri” campus in Zagreb will host Innovation Day, showcasing robots, creativity, and new inventions from students across Croatia. The event marks the culmination of a four-year educational project by STEMI, Infobip, and A1, with support from numerous partners. Over 500 students and more than 100 teachers have been working tirelessly to create, program, and design innovative projects for the past six months.

Last year’s competition winners were from Rovišće Elementary School in the “Robotics and Automated Systems” category. Their mentor, Davorka Medvedovi, expressed deep satisfaction seeing their dedication and teamwork result in success. This victory motivated the students to take on mentorship roles for this year’s competition, furthering their growth and development.

Bjelovar High School also experienced success in last year’s competition when their students surprised their mentor Mihaela Kelava with their win. In addition to technical challenges, they had to balance their school schedule while focusing on the demanding task at hand. Kelava emphasized the importance of drawing student interest and engagement in projects like these while noting the need for a robust “pre-election campaign” to involve students successfully.

Orehovica Elementary School sixth-graders were recognized for their chatbot project last year. Their mentor Tanja Oreški expressed pride and surprise at their success, highlighting the importance of hard work, diligence, persistence, teamwork, and mutual respect for achieving goals.

Last year’s recognition went to Bjelovar Technical School students who built their own hexapods with Ljudevit Sakal as their mentor. He saw this victory as a great motivation for other students to get involved in robotics and technical projects. The success of these innovative programs has not only brought recognition to the schools but has also encouraged interest and growth in STEM among students and communities alike.

Innovation Day at Infobip’s “Alpha Centauri” campus will be an exciting opportunity to witness firsthand how creativity meets innovation as young minds showcase their latest projects that demonstrate creativity in engineering science technology math (STEM) education
