Gryphon Scientific, a public health research and consulting company known for its expertise in artificial intelligence, has been acquired by Deloitte’s government and public services practice. This move will enhance Deloitte’s ability to collaborate with federal and government agencies on utilizing AI and other data-centric tools to detect and respond to infectious diseases.
Established in 2005, Gryphon employs a team of scientists, programmers, and policy specialists with experience in data science, scientific communications, modeling, and risk assessment. The company has utilized AI in its research efforts to analyze biological and chemical threats and was a founding member of the U.S. Artificial Intelligence Safety Institute Consortium managed by the National Institute of Standards and Technology.
According to USASpending.gov data, Gryphon has received approximately $5.5 million in unclassified prime contract obligations in the past 12 months, primarily from the departments of Homeland Security, Health and Human Services, and Defense. With Gryphon now under Deloitte’s umbrella, the public sector team aims to enhance its capacity in developing practical AI solutions in health and establish trust in the technology through its Federal Health AI Accelerator organization.
The acquisition of Gryphon Scientific marks a significant step in Deloitte’s commitment to leveraging AI for the benefit of public health and safety initiatives. By incorporating Gryphon’s team into its operations, Deloitte aims to expand its expertise in biosecurity, lab safety, data science, and global and domestic emergency preparedness and response.
