The Oregon Zoo is not only a fun and educational place for kids, families, and seniors, but it also plays a significant role in driving economic activity throughout the region. In May, voters will have the opportunity to support our local economy by approving the Oregon Zoo bond.
The zoo is a popular destination, attracting over 1.3 million visitors annually, many of whom come from outside the area. These visitors contribute to the local economy by staying in hotels, shopping at local businesses, and dining at restaurants. The zoo’s impact goes beyond its own operations, creating a positive ripple effect that benefits the entire community.
Measure 26-244, which is on the ballot, will provide funding for much-needed infrastructure upgrades at the Oregon Zoo. These improvements will help the zoo continue to be a major economic driver for the region without raising current tax rates. Supporting the Oregon Zoo bond is a good deal for our local economy.
As a board member of the Oregon Zoo Foundation, I urge you to vote yes on Measure 26-244 to help ensure that this important cultural hub and economic driver continues to thrive in our community. By supporting this measure, you are helping to create a better future for both people and animals alike.
