In Cairo, the Ministry of Supply and Internal Trade has announced plans to create a strategic reserve of essential commodities. Dr. Ali Al-Moselhi, Minister of Supply and Internal Trade, stated that a contract has been signed to purchase 500 thousand tons of sugar, with shipments expected to arrive soon. During a meeting chaired by Prime Minister Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, efforts to secure basic commodities and expand the strategic reserve were reviewed.
Wheat supply operations are currently at high levels, surpassing rates seen in the past three years. The ministry has a significant stock of wheat in place already. Additionally, the ministry is working towards securing oil and other important commodities for the strategic reserve.
The Minister emphasized the importance of these measures in ensuring a stable supply of essential goods for the people of Egypt.
