Europe’s Largest Smart City Built by Greece

The Ellinikon City project in Greece is set to become the largest smart city in Europe, integrating modern technology in waste, water, and energy management. Located on the site of the old Ellinikon airport near Athens, the project aims to revitalize the area by building apartments, green spaces, and sustainable energy sources.

The construction site is now seeing increased development activities as Greece’s first skyscraper, the Marina Tower, is under construction along with adjacent houses. The city will feature a luxury Mandarin Oriental hotel, Europe’s largest coastal park, residential areas with sea views, shopping malls and a sports complex.

Ellinikon’s focus is on luxury, sustainability and cutting-edge technology. It aims to provide a unique experience for those living or visiting the city. The project expects to bring significant economic benefits to Greece including an increase of 2.5% in national GDP and creation of 80,000 new jobs when completed in 2037. It will also generate $10.7 billion in tax revenue and attract approximately one million visitors annually.

Overall, Ellinikon City represents a major investment in Greece’s future that combines technological innovation with economic growth and sustainable development.
