On April 25, Saint Hubert Catholic High School for Girls in the Holmesburg section of Philadelphia hosted a Women in Technology Conference. The daylong symposium coincided with International Girls in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Day, designated by the International Telecommunication Union. This year’s theme for Girls in ICT Day was Leadership.
The conference featured various speakers, including Jeanine Heck, Senior Vice President of Comcast Corporation, who served as the keynote speaker. Additionally, students took part in a panel discussion moderated by Jennifer Palloni, Regional Sales Manager at Cisco. The event provided a platform for students to learn from successful women in the technology industry and gain valuable insights into leadership.
Students from Saint Hubert’s Technology Club, along with students from Little Flower Catholic High School for Girls in Hunting Park and young women from Archbishop Ryan High School in Northeast Philadelphia, all participated in the conference. Throughout the day, students engaged in activities such as coding with Artificial Intelligence and had the opportunity for mentoring sessions with female leaders from local corporations.
Girls in ICT Day is a project led by Cisco Networking Academy, a program focused on providing IT skills for jobs that has impacted over 20.5 million learners globally. The conference at Saint Hubert’s aimed to empower young women interested in technology and inspire them to pursue leadership roles in the field.
