Empowering Women: An International Exchange on Critical Issues

During the Women’s History Month, a group of Asian women leaders gathered in Jacksonville to discuss critical issues affecting their communities. The Beaches Rotary Clubs welcomed the delegation and provided them with an opportunity to meet with female elected officials like Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan, among others.

Two members of the Armenian Delegation, Karine Davtyan and Anahit Badalyan, joined Kent Justice on This Week in Jacksonville: Business Edition to share their experiences and insights on empowering women. Badalyan spoke about her motivation for establishing the Berd Women’s Resource Center Foundation, which focuses on addressing women’s economic, healthcare, and mental health concerns. Davtyan also highlighted the importance of empowering women through initiatives such as tackling gender-based violence and promoting women’s leadership and political participation.

Both women expressed their admiration for interacting with mayors and learning from their perspectives and dedication towards their work. They found it motivating to see how women can support each other and collaborate towards positive change. Davtyan emphasized that she wanted to learn from the American experience and bring new ideas back to her community.

Overall, the visit by the delegation during Women’s History Month underscored the significance of empowering women and supporting their leadership roles. The exchange of ideas between different cultures and communities can inspire positive changes that benefit women worldwide.
