The Erie County Community Health Center is the only comprehensive Federally Qualified Health Center in the tri-county area of Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties. This tri-county region has been underserved in terms of access to primary health care services, and the Health Center plays a crucial role in addressing this issue. The center has received $4,334,730 in funding from the Health Resources and Services Agency (HRSA), which will support primary care, dental, and mental health services offered at its eight sites throughout the region.
According to Erie County Health Commissioner Pete Schade, this funding will help improve the health and well-being of residents in Erie, Huron, and Ottawa counties. By providing high-quality primary health care services to medically underserved populations, the Health Center is contributing to public health infrastructure in these areas.
The HRSA’s Health Center Program supports nonprofit organizations that provide primary health care services to medically underserved populations across the country. The three-year funding period for this program will run from June 2024 to May 2027.
