Mahomet Entrepreneurs Plan to Construct Flex-Warehousing Facility on 10-Acre Site

Mahomet-based business The Brush Man is set to move into larger facilities following the approval of an action by the Mahomet City Council. Owner Dave Monahan has plans to build a new flex warehouse location on Lake of the Woods Road in east Mahomet, which will provide space for his business as well as build-to-suit office and commercial warehouse sites for other companies.

The nearly 10-acre site will be around 25,000 square feet for The Brush Man, with additional smaller units of around 2,000 square feet or larger if needed. The Brush Man, which was started in 1976 and purchased by Monahan in 2009, sells job-site supplies wholesale such as brooms, trash bags, and paint brushes.

The goal of the flex space is to cater to different types of tenants, from those looking to store personal items like vintage cars to contractor-based businesses in need of office and storage space. Monahan’s struggle to find appropriate land in Mahomet was resolved by this new development, preventing him from looking into other communities.

Involvement from real estate company Guth & Associates will assist in marketing and leasing the new spaces. Construction is set to begin in the fall, bringing new opportunities for businesses and tenants in Mahomet. Village Administrator Patrick Brown sees this development as a win for Monahan’s company and the village. The project fills a need to keep businesses in the community and will bring something new to the area. Currently located in west Mahomet, The Brush Man will build a facility on Lake of the Woods Road. Monahan has also agreed to buy the Bankco Overhead Door business located there and keep it open, preserving jobs for the current employees.
